Tea Infused Apple Crumble Recipe

We’ve taken this classic cozy dessert and given it a twist, infusing sweet apples with the delicate, aromatic notes of Earl Grey (or your favorite brew). As the apples soak up the rich flavors of tea, they transform into something even more magical—each bite is a blend of warm spice, buttery crumble, and a whisper of tea’s elegance. Perfect for tea lovers and dessert dreamers alike, this is a crumble with a little extra heart-steeping goodness!

 

Tea Infused Apple Crumble Recipe by New English Teas

  

Ingredients:

For the filling:

  • 4-5 medium apples
  • 2 Earl Grey or English Breakfast teabags or 2 tbsp loose tea
  • 1/2 cup of hot water
  • 1/4 cup of sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the crumble topping:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup of rolled outs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

    1. Preheat the oven to 175°C or (350°F) .
    2. Make the tea infusion
      Brew 1/2 cup of strong tea by steeping the tea bags or loose leaf tea in hot water for 5-7 minutes. Remove the tea bags or strain the leaves, and set the tea aside to cool slightly.
    3. Prepare the apples
      Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Place the apples in a large bowl and toss with the lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Then pour the cooled tea over the apples and mix well to ensure the tea infuses the apples.
    4. Make the crumble topping
      In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture forms clumps.
    5. Assemble the crumble
      Pour the tea-infused apple mixture into a baking dish (about 8x8 inches or similar size). Spread the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
    6. Bake
      Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
    7. Serve
      Let the crumble cool for a few minutes before serving. Pair it with custard. a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of cream for extra indulgence!
